Ingredients
  • 24 lb apples
  • 2 qt water
Instructions
  1. Preparetions:
  2. Prepare Ball brand or Kerr brand jars and closures according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. Wash apples, Remove stem and blossom ends.
  4. Chop apples and place in a large sauce pot.
  5. Add water and cook until tender, stirring to prevent sticking.
  6. Strain through a damp jelly bag or several layers of cheesecloth.
  7. Heat juice just to a boil.
  8. Carefully ladle hot juice into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.
  9. Wipe jar rim clean. Place lid on jar with sealing compound next to glass.
  10. Screw band down evenly and firmly just until a point of resistance is met – fingertip tight.
  11. Process 10 minutes in a boiling-water canner.
  12. At elevations higher than 1,000 feet, boil 2 additional minutes for each additional 1,000 feet elevation.
